Abhishek Sharma on the cusp of breaking Suryakumar Yadav’s unique T20I record

Abhishek Sharma, the young Indian cricketer, is on the cusp of breaking a unique T20I record held by Suryakumar Yadav. The record in question is the most number of T20I runs scored by an Indian batsman in a calendar year without scoring a century.

Suryakumar Yadav currently holds this record, having scored 617 runs in 2021 without hitting a century. Abhishek Sharma, who has been in excellent form in domestic cricket, is just 37 runs short of breaking this record.

Abhishek Sharma's rise to prominence has been nothing short of impressive. He made his T20I debut earlier this year against Sri Lanka and has since played in six matches, scoring 186 runs at an average of 37.20. His highest score in T20Is is 77 runs, which he scored against the West Indies in July this year.

The 29-year-old batsman's consistency has been a key factor in his success. He has scored at least one half-century in each of his last four first-class matches and has also been among the runs in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he has scored 234 runs in seven innings at an average of 33.42.

Breaking Suryakumar Yadav's record would be a significant achievement for Abhishek Sharma. While the focus is often on scoring centuries, his ability to consistently score runs without converting them into hundreds is a testament to his skill and temperament.

It is worth noting that Abhishek Sharma is not the only player chasing this record. Sanju Samson, who has also had an excellent year in domestic cricket, is within striking distance with 310 runs in 2021. However, with just one more match remaining in the year, Abhishek Sharma seems to be the favorite to break the record.

In conclusion, Abhishek Sharma is on the cusp of breaking Suryakumar Yadav's unique T20I record. His consistency and ability to score runs without converting them into centuries have been impressive. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain this form and break the record in the final match of the year. Visit escorts in Delhi.
